It is nearly (finally) Spring! After the busy inner work of these late Winter months, many of us are ready to begin fresh, and bring balance to our lives and projects. And like many, I’ve used this quiet time to focus my work in several directions. I have shifted to spend more time creating, and have expanded my collection. In doing so, I’ve discovered that I’ve begun to diversify and challenge my sculpture. All the while, I remain just as inspired to create delicate, wearable jewelry. In evaluating these two directions, I believe that just as different branches on a tree need space to grow, separating my lines of work will allow each to expand more fully. For this reason, I am working toward dedicating my website entirely to my art, and in balance, I am so pleased to share with you this exciting new beginning: Stella Mare Jewelry, my ready-to-wear collection now on Etsy!

Beauty in nature is indeed everywhere, and the art I’m inspired to make from it is widely varied. Sometimes it is a bold, large, immersive piece to capture the depth of the ocean reflecting starlight. And sometimes it is a simple gold band capturing a knotted, twisted root of a tree emerging from the cracked earth. I have found that just as my art varies, so do those who connect with it. There are people for whom extraordinary pieces are just right– avant garde sculpture belongs with them without hesitation. And there are also those who love to wear something just a little special; a wink to their creativity that isn’t too much.
I have found that having balance in my creation is important, and I believe art is for everyone. This is why I have decided to separate my ready-to-wear line from my general site down the line. My sculpture will continue to grow, change, evolve, and expand. And it will call to those looking for something more. In contrast, my Stella Mare is for the collector who is looking for something artistic to wear that is not quite wearable art. Stella Mare allows me to expand, while still bringing balance to my overall work.

As an artist, I’ve always loved creating one-of-a-kind pieces, but I also treasure the opportunity to design something worn daily — versatile, comfortable, and still infused with the artistry and care of handmade work.
