Dresses and Shoes
Susan Freda B.(1974) a renowned sculptor and designer, draws inspiration from a fascination with the natural world and a reverence traditionally female centered craft techniques. She works with the dress form and elements of fashion to explore ornament and beauty and the role these can play in contemporary architecture and life.
Susan’s dresses and shoes are at once intimate and fashionable, ghostly and ethereal, casting shadows and glittering light across the wall. They are made by a self-invented process in which she weaves wire to build forms and create webs. The pieces incorporate handmade glass, locally mined mica and bits from the early jewelry and textile industry in Rhode Island. Her pieces are in the collections of Sir Elton John, Cirque du Soleil, and Stuart Weitman shoes among others.
Each piece is unique. However, if a sold-out option speaks to you, please contact us to discuss a custom piece in that style.
